ADP is one of the UK’s largest Dental Corporate Bodies with 125 practices offering treatment to over 1.5 million patients.
Milestone acquired ADP in 2002 from its founders and guided the business through a growth programme which enhanced the businesses’ value ten-fold over five years. At the time of acquisition, the Group comprised 24 separate dentistry practices in the South of England.
Appointing a new Chairman and CEO and pursuing a strategic growth plan underpinned by an innovative recruitment strategy to get around the shortage of UK dentists, the business grew to 63 practices within five years. Productivity (average gross margin per practice) also increased from 10% to 21% as a result of structural and organisational changes implemented, and the business won 16 bids to become a significant NHS dental care service provider.
The acquisition of CDC in 2006 was the last significant acquisition during Milestone's investment period, which doubled the size of the Group overnight. Milestone realised its investment in ADP via a secondary buy-out to management in 2007.
